Wait- Indict Comey and James but bury Tom Homan’s bribe ? This is just BS!

Mason Frichette's avatar

Kevin, you don't understand. Bribery is no longer a crime. Now, it is business as usual.

Nobody talks about how much money we waste on these frivolous lawsuits that have to come through the DOJ aside from the fact that it's completely unethical for the president to do this kind of junk. All the lawsuits against him that we pay for to defend him, all of the times he goes golfing and we pay for extra secret Service. It's about time we expose that incredible waste and also how many times he has violated the Emoluments act by making money off the American people in so many different ways. He's such a criminal.

Denise R's avatar

As a former federal budget employee who was pushed out of my job 3 yrs before my retirement, I say this ALL the time!!!! It was costing $10 MIL per month just for him to golf.... not even counting all these frivolous lawsuits.... and ICE increased spending.... it's DISGUSTING! So much for cutting spending on taxpayer money!

Sarah Bellinson's avatar

Can you please put in the number it cost per month for him to golf? I know it was more than $10! It was in the millions more from what I heard. He complained when Obama went to the theater in NYC or occasionally went golfing. If anyone knew the actual cost of all his trips to his golf clubs and secret service for his kids all over the world we'd have a heart attack!

Denise R's avatar

I mis-typed - it was $10 MIL per month sorry about that - updated my post too! :) It was also $30 mil for him to go to the superbowl.... another $20+ mil to go to a UFC fight.... it's ridiculous!!! 4 yrs of golfing = approx $480 mil..... not to mention the ballroom.... $200 mil, tearing out the rose garden.... hosting a UFC fight at the white house.... definitely not cutting government spending!!!!!

Thing is his supporters don't care and who's to stop him? McConnell gave him the SCOTUS. Half the country gave him congress. He's installed incompetent loyalists. Who's to stop him?

Talkin about a revolution!! That's the only way and now this sweet little old midwife from the Bronx becomes a terrorist. It's really scary to think about the fact that what we write here can someday and soon put us in a concentration camp. He's not even quiet about it.

Shasti, Impeachable in 2025 means "capable of growing peaches." It no longer has a political meaning.

Mike, the tragedy here is that "we" should not have to explain anything to people. They should be able to figure it out themselves. And, given that most people are not paying attention, you can "explain" forever without making an adequate impact.

This is a quote from a NY Times comment today:

"I can only believe this country is now too stupid for self-governance. It’s the only explanation of why we are where we are, and it ain’t likely to turn around."

I agree with that comment, because I have been saying since long before November 2024* that the root of the problem in this country is not Trump. Neither is it the GOP. The problem is the stupidity and ignorance of Americans who refuse to take their societal responsibilities seriously. Trump and Republicans are only a problem because voters elect them. The commenter I quoted says, "...and it ain't likely to turn around." He is right. It will only turn around if millions of Americans re-evaluate their lives and values and decide to get involved. I don't see that happening. The capacity of Americans to whine is virtually unlimited. The capacity of Americans to get involved is dependent on their a) awareness and b) willingness to change. Will Americans decide that abandoning disengagement and spending time to become well-informed is something they are willing to do? I fear I could get rich betting against that happening.

It isn't enough to sour on Trump because of inflation. That is a purely selfish issue. What should be destroying the support for Trump and the GOP is the criminality, the cruelty, the lawlessness. Inflation comes and goes; the end of democracy; the injustice imposed on countless human beings; the destruction of the economy will not go away because inflation bums voters out. When the next election happens (assuming we still have elections), the voters who supported Republicans despite what they were doing to the working class, because they hate Democrats based on their "socialism," will once again be manipulated by the dishonest, autocratic Right and elect Republicans.

I appreciate the work that Mike and Shasti do, but I think they are naive and unrealistic.

*I've been focused on the failure of the electorate for decades. During those decades the GOP morphed from a party that once had socially conscious members to one that rejected free and fair elections, good government, common decency, and democracy. The disaster did not begin when Trump entered politics. He burst on the scene when the GOP was fertile ground for an authoritarian thug to take control. They proved that by moving seamlessly from acknowledging how unfit Trump was to groveling at his feet.

Thank you for disturbing, but good information. I'm in Long Beach (Belmont Shore), CA. There should be a law against wasting time, effort and money on ridiculous, vindictive lawsuits.

I find this latest Weaponized judicial attack on Comey to be very interesting. First, it is very likely that his contribution in the form of fake news about Mrs. Clinton had a lot to do with Trump getting into office the first time, which had everything to do with him getting into office the second time. For that, and that alone, I have no sympathy with him. At the same time, I sincerely doubt that he’s done anything wrong. But if he has, I have no problem with him paying for it.

Second, this is the part that I really like. I would be very surprised if comey did not know where a great many bodies lay buried. And what comes out of his testimony may be very interesting indeed. If he thinks he doesn’t have anything to lose, and everything to gain, he may well do what he should. And frankly, I don’t care who he takes down with him as long as it includes of few people we could name.

Third, for the EpsteinTh time, when are these files going to be released? Because we seem to have distraction after distraction after distraction.

MARIA LAMAS's avatar

Can't wait to see what will be conjured by this corrupt DOJ to indict a man of honor such as Comey. This regime continues to waste money to satisfy a man with 30+ current felony convictions -- and yet insists on going after people who, unlike him, are honest and good.

Bensnewlogin's avatar

He has only 31 felony conviction. He has 90 something indictments less than 31 that I’ve already gone through. That doesn’t make it better, of course. But we must be fair to Trump.

MARIA LAMAS's avatar

Thank you. I'll see if I can update -- not to be "fair" to the leader but because I like to correct any mistake.

Bensnewlogin's avatar

I know. I was just teasing you. Trump complaining about things not being fair is pretty much is trademark

Chaos, revenge is Dt and his regime loves to do. Basically, to keep the minds off the Epstein files and other diabolical stuff Dt/regime has done in these last 9 months. Anyway, Los Osos, CA is the place to be.
