I’ve said it before and I will say it again, probably again and again and again.

The Republican Party has been in charge of the red states for something like 45 years. And for the entirety of that 45 years, for right this very minute, they rank at the bottom of nearly every measure of social and economic well-being. It wasn’t so many months ago that the governor of Nebraska was complaining about Trump actions against the beef industry in Nebraska, and how badly all of this was affecting the state. I remember writing 25 years ago that red state voters were up in arms about two guys they don’t know getting married in New York, and thus voted for Republicans, who returned the favor by voting for farm bills which resulted in their farms being bought up for pennies on the dollar by corporate agriculture. When Trump was running in 2020, Almond farmers in California were complaining about how his economic policies were costing them their farms.

And yet they continued to vote Republican, because Trump convinced them that a few transgender athletes were threat to women’s sports everywhere, and that transgender was for everybody.

THAT’S WHAT HE SAID THAT TALERICO SAID: TRANSGENDER FOR EVERYBODY.

Of course, Talerico said nothing of the sort, nor would he, because that’s not how any of this works. so to me, the real question, apart from any of these economic issues, which of course Democrats should be addressing as forcefully as they can…

Is what is the psychology of people that keep falling for the same garbage come over and over and over? And how do we reach those people? How do we get them out of their bubble? How do we reestablish reality in critical thinking as valid and valuable criteria for voting?

My family and I often ask ourselves this question!

I wish I had an answer for that question. But it's so hard for me to understand how people could become so divorced from reality and so in love with despite.

Like learning more about this candidate. Iowa can be blue and the farmers have to recognize that Trump has been deadly for their livelihoods. DJT conned people everywhere, but Senate and Congress can change that trajectory.
