Hey folks,
I went on NewsNation this past week to talk about a horrifying shooting in Washington, D.C. of two National Guard service members and how the Trump administration’s first instinct was to slam the brakes on asylum and immigration instead of confronting our gun violence and mental health crises.
I’m sick of watching leaders punish immigrants and asylum seekers to look “tough” while refusing to do the hard work of keeping guns away from dangerous people and funding real mental health care. Yes, this case involves an asylum seeker, but that doesn’t change the bigger truth: we have a violence problem in America that we keep ignoring until the next tragedy.
I’m not willing to go numb to this—and I don’t think you are either. Thanks for reading, and if this resonates, consider subscribing and sharing this post.
