I have felt this way before. On 9/11/2001 I was on route to work when the emergency alert system of my radio was activated. AA 11 had crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The world stopped. No one knew what would come next. It was terrifying. That's how I feel now. Trump is the most terrifying leader since Hitler. The GOP is willingly putting the citizens of the US through this, putting us all in danger, and there appears to be not one care about it.

Someone on Substack wrote this morning that it would just take 3 in Congress to caucus with the Democrats and save all of us. There are tons of them retiring, so hopefully this occurs to just a few who have some moral sense left -- assuming there are 3 such individuals in the GOP.
The 25th Amendment is a pipe dream. Vance would have to initiate it and it requires 2/3 of both the House and the Senate to approve it. The majority of the GOP supports what Trump is doing. They aren't going to remove him. If it was up to only the Democrats, Trump would have been gone by now. That's why voting is so important!
You are correct, but enough shouting it out might encourage the weal legislators to get some balls to slow down this authoritarian administration, so we can enact some legislation to get us back to democracy...and some peace.

I have been around for a long time, and have seen mass movements do their work of galvanizing people to take to the streets, and seen politicians respond, sometimes inspired by the mass movement, sometimes in heated opposition. In the end, we have defined the arguments, changed hearts, changed the laws. We did some good, but it wasn't quick, or easy.
If you are dedicated to activism, as your words suggest, then you probably know that a leader must be able to "read the room", to gauge the impact that his words have on the audience. Are they ready for the action step of heading out to the street, to protest, to perhaps get tear-gassed, arrested, maybe even beaten with billy clubs? Are they committed to non-violent action, or are there elements in the crowd who will get out of hand and launch into the kind of resistance that leads to more violence, headlines about ?mobs" and "riots", and weakens the resolve of potential allies to join with you.
Here is my basic message to you and to all who want to rouse the public to action: Haranguing your audience is not going to get them on your side, it will result in push-back.
I will pick and choose when, where and how I participate in public demonstrations. No one makes those decisions for me: I am not a "Party animal" who is at the beck and call of Party leadership (or like a union member who walks a picket line according to the shop steward's rotation).
I will write letters, donate to causes I believe in and make calls to my representatives. If I decide to carry a sign on a street corner with my neighbors, or not, that will be my decision. Just as I respect your decision to exhort people to participate in mass demonstrations, I expect you to respect my decision to act in my own way in resisting autocracy.
