I’m not afraid to say it, Charlie was not a good person. He thrived on hate. He influenced thousands to be haters. He was a Christian nationalist who spewed hate, racism, division, misogyny, antisemitism, he did not follow the teachings of Jesus.

Charlie Kirk died standing up for what he believed in. He believed that there would be some deaths in order to protect our second amendment rights.

What he didn’t believe in was empathy.

But much like so many other MAGA Republicans in this country, he didn’t expect it would be he who suffers.

Just like the farmers who believed it would be others that would suffer the fate of Trump‘s tariffs and it was their bigotry and hate that Drove them to vote for Trump.

Much like the people who have seen their loved ones pulled off the street and sent to detention centers, they always thought it would be someone else who deserved it.

Or the people who are all for Medicaid and SNAP benefit cuts because they don’t want people who “don’t deserve it” To get those benefits only to find out that they will suffer from those same cuts.

I don’t wish anyone to suffer, it is a sad reality that there are people who will have to suffer as penance for the choices they make to hate.

Charlie Kirk was his self proclaimed Christian nationalist, much of that ideology is based on hate, racism, bigotry, and white supremacy. It’s a death cult.

He has poisoned the mind of way too many young people in this country.

I do not condone gun violence, I hate it.

But more than anything, I hate hate.

“Gun deaths are worth it to preserve the second amendment”—Charlie Kirk

You left out gay people and trans people, homophobia and transphobia, from your list of what Kirk promoted.

Also religious bigotry, religious privilege, and dominionism.

And might makes right.

I agree with you. In the words of somebody who is no longer important to modern Christianity, Kirk lived by the sword.

And the sword returned the compliment.

Yes, thanks. The list of who and what he hated was never ending. People don’t need to celebrate but they shouldn’t act like his hatred is a loss to our world.

Bensnewlogin's avatar

And thank you for your thanks. I’m not sure it was people he hated as much as people he despised. Not all bigotry is hate. So much of it is the always present, always assumed, and always completely unwarranted belief in a total imaginary superiority, as a male, a white person, a heterosexual, a christian, and a human being. At least, those are the usual breakdowns.

For the record, i do not celebrate the violent death of any person. I don’t approve of murder.

But that being said, as I already noted, someone who is no longer important to modern Xtianity observed….

Live by the sword. Die by the sword.

Kirk decided to earn his living by spreading shit and causing trouble. What he put out into the world is what came right back at him.

Oh, well.

I think everyone should watch it.

People need to THINK about their own mean & stupid stuff they say & do. And understand the consequences of being a horrible person. People need to LEARN to be decent human beings instead of provocative dickheads.

This was horrible! We need to stop being HORRIBLE!

In the U.S. it's generally been understood that you can disagree and are allowed to speak your mind without fear of retaliation, up to and including assassination. That's what We the People call "free speech." But here on "the fringe left," you don't seem to have gotten the memo. ;-)

Fringe left? So you believe that the person responsible was a lefty? Proof or stfu.

Most if not all of the shooters of memorable past have been from the other side. The conservatives are the ones that resort to violence more easily than warming a can of soup.

As for my own opinion, which last time I checked was still protected by the first amendment, it is that nobody should be doing this to anyone. But hiding it from view makes it easier for the next tragedy to happen. So look at it, recoil from it, learn from it and alter your behavior to avoid meeting that outcome either as a victim or as a violence bringer.

But if you are incapable of such lessons, may mother Mary help your soul. Jesus certainly hasn’t done you any good.

Except here in the U.S. we are no longer free to speak anything at all that disagrees with your Dear Leader without staggering retaliation, punishment, etc. We are no longer allowed to speak our minds at all….. you are totally programmed, bozo. You are exactly why Trump says he loves the uneducated.

When we have an administration that has promoted so much hatred against those who oppose their agenda, it is hard to keep from defending ourselves. The left is traditionally more empathetic and try to deescalate hostile rhetoric. The right more often, seeks revenge and escalates the violence. trump engages and encourages the violent fringe of American politics like the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and the KKK.

There is an atmosphere of violence and hatred that permeates all of the trump administration. trump has infected the American body politic with fear, intimidation, violence, and hatred.

Thank you for mentioning Jan 6. Please do not equate today’s killing of Charlie Kirk, however lamentable, to Jan 6 where our US Capitol was assaulted by political terrorists urged on by President Trump and people were killed and injured, the VP was threatened as were Congress men and women.

The Domestic Terrorist in Chief Donald Trump and Congress -particularly the Republicans- are responsible for a complete lack of reasonable gun control that protect us They have taken no useful action in decades on gun violence. It’s shameful, disgusting, criminal and a total abnegation of responsibility. Blood is on their hands.

Not feeling safe at any time is what thousands ánd thousands of people unlawfully being hunted by ICE agents are feeling today. What about the absolute Terror that the children of these hunted parents feel every day?

The killing was wrong. So was the HATE that Charlie Kirk was spreading.

I am sorry for his wife and children ánd also the families of the school kids etc

It's LONG PAST TIME to change our gun laws! No one should be able to get automatic assault weapons, for starters. The process for getting a license to own a gun should include a mental health test, and that license should need to be renewed like a driver's license is. This is the case in other countries.
