We should all be able to say/ write whatever we want, that's not the point. BUT NO PERSON OR INSTITUTION should be able to do so without punitive consequences for lying or harmfully and/or intentionally misrepresenting facts/the truth...Free Speech without accountability is a fallacy.
Mike, I was glad to read about the hygiene kit project you are doing. Here in San Antonio we have an organization called the Thrive Center that provides housing for homeless LGBTQ teenagers. My church is preparing 50 hygiene kits for the Thrive Center. I just finished sewing about 15 cloth tote bags to hold the hygiene supplies. We do what we can.

Well, there may be a platform, but most of America will have moved on and FOX, OAN, Newsmax etc. will be left behind. Good politicians, independent journalists and commentators and regular people will not go on those sites.

Just remember, we can oppose (without anger, hate) that which is bad. Professionals do it all the time. We can do it too. Hate is a hard burden to carry, and is not needed in order to know what to do. Hate is not needed in order to be motivated to carry through on difficult actions in order to protect that which we love.
I find that simple fear is enough. Fear of what the bad people will do if we do not stop them. Let us be real, things are only going to get worse as long as Republicans have power. Sure, Trump is 'extra' bad, but he simply took the Republican playbook and 'turned it up to Eleven'.
Hate is often used to turn those 'other' people into non-human targets that you can then do anything you want to them. Republicans have been using that trick for decades, so severely that Democrats became equivalent to 'demons' set on destroying this nation of ours. We can oppose the lies, oppose their leaders, oppose their policies and vote them out of office.
Here is a radical truth: People are people. There are a significant portion of people who are just plain 'bad'. They are full of hate and greed and willing to do anything and everything to anyone who they feel is in their way, or who they feel is beneath them (because that way they can feel better about themselves). We do not need to be the ones with hate in order to prevail over them. We may never 'reach' most of them, though many filled with hate have learned better, but they are in the minority.
Far more numerous are the people who are desperate, scared, confused, and do not know who to trust or even how to figure out who they should trust. They spend their lives living their life and just trying to get through their life the best they know how. Life is not always easy, especially when there are a lot of bad people out there who lie and con and cheat them, often legally, through a corrupted system that is rigged against the 'people'.
Trump conned those people with his lies. They were desperate and he heard their desperation and promised them everything. He was their answer to their demand for CHANGE. He lied of course, but Democrats in 2016, 2020 were not promising change. They tried to sell that everything was just fine as long as we stayed the course. Problem was people were not buying it. Sure, in 2026, the big change is to oppose Trump. Might still work in 2028, but it will not last in 2030 unless we actually PUSH and create real, major change that helps people and takes real steps to fix the system, ending the corruption.
Emotions will not be enough when dealing with complex problems, creating a system that cancels out the corruption and rescues our courts, our democracy, our economy... It will take resolve, dedication and hope, love for our fellow Americans and a desire to be part of the world again. Hate will not be a good governing philosophy if we wish to actually help people. Under Trump we see very clearly the results of Hate as a governing philosophy, and we need to change that.

I can identify with feeling numb, and I’m finding it useful to take a break from the news, in order to let the my emotions find a chance to rest.
And I’m also, like you, feeling like I’m sick and tired of accepting what is going on. I hope more people start to voice this sentiment.
