I woke up early this morning to shoot some YouTube videos and do a hit on Newsmax. And predictably, the way it always does, the conversation devolved into the millionth argument I have been forced to have about Hasan Piker, the Twitch streamer Republicans are obsessed with and have decided to make the entire midterms about.
I finally had it. I looked straight into the camera and said that I understand they all believe the most troubling association in the Michigan Senate race is between Abdul El-Sayed and Hasan Piker. In reality, the most troubling association in that race is between Mike Rogers and Donald Trump.
As much as I have my own disagreements with Piker about some of the things he has said, he is not responsible for the state of this country and he is not the spokesperson for the Democratic Party.
They ended the segment before I could finish my thought, but Hasan Piker is not the reason you can’t afford your groceries. Donald Trump is. Hasan Piker is not the reason gas prices are so high. Donald Trump is. Hasan Piker is not the reason you can’t afford your rent or your mortgage. Donald Trump is. Hasan Piker is not stealing billions and billions of dollars from the American taxpayer. Donald Trump and his family are. Hasan Piker is not waging an illegal war and isolating the United States with a bunch of stupid tariffs. Donald Trump is.
The reason the Trump administration keeps targeting independent creators like me is that we don’t answer to a network or an advertiser — we answer to you. That’s what makes us harder to control. Everywhere I go on these right-wing shows, all they know how to do is talk about Hasan Piker or trans kids, and I am so tired of it. It’s boring at this point, and it isn’t working. The polls are spiraling out of control for Republicans. What they should be doing is finding a way to use the power they actually have. They control the House, the Senate, the White House, and the judiciary. They could use all of that to do something that might improve your life.
Hell, I thought Donald Trump’s attempt to bribe the American people with a $5,000 check if Republicans won the midterms was crass and ridiculous. But if they really believed that was the right thing to do, they could just do it right now. Trump has the power to call everybody back. Mike Johnson has the House in recess because he is terrified Pete Hegseth is going to be impeached, and Trump could end that recess tomorrow. Mike Johnson works for Trump. John Thune works for Trump. All these Republicans work for Trump. That’s the problem.
In Michigan in particular — and I have done a ton of work in Michigan over my career — people are hurting right now. Trump’s tariffs are destroying the economy writ large. Everything is getting more expensive. People are frustrated, and they know exactly who to blame. They know it isn’t some Twitch streamer they have never heard of and never watched. They know it’s the President of the United States. The same man who promised in 2024 that the day he got elected, everything would be cheaper. That the day he got elected, the war in Ukraine would be over. That the day he got elected, the pointless foreign wars that exist to enrich a handful of defense contractors, oil companies, and corrupt politicians would end.
People know.
So they are going to talk about Hasan Piker to death and make him a household name, because they think he’s scary and they think he’s a communist. They’re going to act with bravado, the way Dick Morris did when I debated him on Newsmax yesterday, insisting Republicans were going to pick up five Senate seats. That’s ridiculous. I don’t know what kind of drugs they’re giving him in hospice care, but the man is crazy. And none of it is going to work. They have been calling all of us communists for decades. Would you like me to roll the endless footage of Fox News calling Barack Obama a communist, a jihadist, a terrorist sympathizer? I remember all of it.
They are going to tell you they’re the party of small government. They are going to tell you they’re the party of free markets and economic ideas. They don’t have any ideas. They are a party of grievance, and that has been on full display for two years now.
The Republicans cannot govern. This is not simply about Donald Trump. Yes, Trump is the man at the top. Trump is the man driving the car and steering it off a cliff heading into the midterms. But these guys cannot govern. If they had any coherent ideas or ideology, they never would have allowed their party to be hijacked by a man so thoroughly unqualified to be president, a man who has surrounded himself with people like Pete Hegseth and Kash Patel and Todd Blanche and so many others who are just as unqualified as he is. They’re carnival barkers masquerading as politicians. They’re losers masquerading as winners. Yes, they stumbled ass backwards into an election victory in 2024, and I commend them for that. But they have done nothing to make this country better. They have done nothing to make this country stronger. And because of that, they have left their party with nothing to talk about but a fucking Twitch streamer.
As I told you the other day, the polls right now are out of control. Democrats are ahead in Kansas and Idaho (I don’t believe that last one, but the poll said it.) They’re tied in Florida. They’re ahead in Texas. It’s bananas. Maybe some of those voters come home, and we’re probably going to lose some of those races. I get it. I know how the game is played. But my God, a lot of these races should not be close.
But the most troubling association in this election is between Donald Trump and the Republican Party. If they could ditch his ass, if they could admit the truth about how failed this president is, they probably wouldn’t fare so badly in November. They can’t do it, because they lack the moral clarity to do it. Their inability to separate themselves from an unpopular president who has a stranglehold on their base is embarrassing. It’s going to hurt them electorally, and they deserve exactly what’s coming to them.

This is awesome. Thanks. My only concern about the midterms is that the psychopath-in-chief is going to declare Martial Law and have ICE or someone at polling places making sure people vote Republican. Sounds absurd. But is it? With all the desperate, illegal crap he has tried???
Republican faithfulness to their leader comes from the fact that the orange one “won” the presidency by cheating and he is still in control of all 3 branches of government. He just told his followers to cheat again.
