Here in Military City, USA (SA, TX) they are not eager to send their spouses and children to this war. So tired of GOP using “support the troops” as a bludgeon to beat down opposition to war.
As a 27-year Air Force Vet I agree. Lived in SA for many years and Austin for many more. Stop calling us Heros so you can mindlessly send us into this unplanned mess. We do not want to die for Netanyahu's war...one he has been wanting for many years. Just STOP now.
I agree with everything you say, and I want to take it a step further; I am considering just not paying my taxes because I don't want a dime of my money going to this unconscionable war. Our young men and women, as well as countless citizens in the Middle East, are paying with their lives to cover up Trump's pedophile lusts and that's what this is all about, in addition to supporting his first 2 sons who are profiting off making drones and selling them back to the US.
I'm a responsible taxpayer and will pay my honest share, but not to help that orange bastard camping out in the White House.
While I sympathize with the impulse, I’m not sure that is a good idea to try as an individual. It could go unnoticed as a political statement while racking up penalties from the IRS. Even though this is a blantantly illegal war, you will not have the law on your side if you refuse to pay taxes.
Perhaps the confusion is based on the fact that, if you are an employee, taxes have already been deducted from your wages/salary and you don’t owe anything when you file (many/most get refunds).
Where is this coming from? You are required to pay, IRS can garnish wages if you don't. It may take a while for them to get around to you, but paying tax is not optional.
I am struggling with this, too, Charlotte. I am more than willing to pay taxes that are used to help others and build and maintain infrastructure, but the thought that my money could be used to cause injury, death and destruction makes me feel sick.
I hope people are waking up! I know I’m literally waking up thinking the Republicans don’t give a shit about this country, human beings, children, and they will be complicit in sending our young adults into a dangerous “war”. What is the f-ing line with these people? Are their own sons and daughters going to die for this idiot? Or just ours.
ALOHA. From the COCONUT wireless. .....BONDI is making new law to stop anybody from making complaints about the DOJ.. " Kill switch" to make all complaint to the bar association mute.. So, that means you can't disbar DOJ from past and present judications....Like Juliani, Powell, the Pillow guy can lose their licence for false statement and full on lies to the public with no reposition. You have until April 8th to read and input your comment. This is the deadline for any rebuttal to Bondis ruling. Go to the FEDERAL REGISTRAR web site and read it... Andrew Weissmann. "Do something" he said.....His call to hold fast to the law....
We very much value the Endless Urgency information and evaluation.
If possible, please add to the coming discussions any suggestions what we as citizens can do to help restrain the regime.
What we have done personally for starters is to send multiple emails to our congressional delegation (who I actually sympathize with, since they have already come out with strong condemnation). We've also sent emails to the junk drawer (I refuse to call them cabinet) members, for which I don't expect any kind of response, and if there is will be either denial or threat. We have also participated in all of the local No Kings Protests and several other local public events, we contribute regularly to several campaigns (some of which were based on suggestions you've given for people like Peggy Flanagan), and we have also participated in get-out-to-vote postcard writing efforts.
If there are any other grass-root methods of protest, please let us know. It would also be useful to mention them on more than one substack since we don't get to all of the episodes.
I was at Century City, demonstrating against the Vietnam War. I still think it was a mistake. My favorite cousin, a Skymaster Spotter for the Army in that quagmire, somehow made it home alive. I belong to 3 skeptic societies, where Anti-religious sentiment so deep that Atheism is essentially a religion for them. The irony of that situation is the fanaticism in both groups, except that my skeptical friends won't die for Atheism. The leaders of Iran don't care if they die or their if subjects suffer. All souls will be rewarded as payment for their martyrdom. Iran will not give up this 47 year-old war until they've beaten the U.S. If we stop our attack, Iran will be free to extort its neighbors for the foreseeable future. They will not keep any peace. Their commitment to our demise is part of their religious structure. As Hamas is to Israel, the Iranian Shiites are to the U.S. Their commitment is stronger than Hitler's was. We have to be mentally strong enough to commit to a whack-a-mole future until the sensible people of Iran are the only ones left to run their country.
Are you talking about MAGAtry here? It sure sounds like you’re talking about MAGAtry here.
“Their commitment to our demise is part of their religious structure.“
“Their commitment to to the end times and the end of the world when jesus returns necuase of wsrs in the middle east is a part of their religious structure.”
Discuss.
And no, atheism isn’t a religion, or even like a religion. Amd if people are fanatical atheists there might possibly be a world ofbhurt and anger behindvit. But I have never known one.
I keep reading that the fucking corporate dems want the war but don't want to take responsibility for it. They can't have it both ways. We need a 24/7 monitoring squad to call out the turncoats who are more interested in lining their own pockets but think they should be re-elected becasue "I do not support fascism." Gee, thanks. I don't think so.

Exactly. These are my neighbors and the children of my neighbors. This is not a game!

Not paying your taxes, is not illegal... Not FILING your taxes is.
