It's the economy too...but, Trump is doing what Trump always does, steal anything that's not nailed down. He thinks because he's occupying the Oval Office, tax revenue is his personal piggy bank.
Even though there is not enough revenue coming in, because of his ridiculous tax-cuts and the real result of his moronic Tariff war, he still thinks he has unlimited checks in the White House CHECKBOOK.
He added $11.5 billion to the National debt, and his vanity projects are adding to the debt DAILY.
Americans are (finally) beginning to link the overwhelming Corruption as the Source of our economic problems. My, My, what will the elites and oligarchs do when Socialism is no longer exclusively available for just them.
You're spot on with the notion that unenforced laws and rules for the wealthy will short-circuit democracy, as it has in the past. But I question Trump's immediate implementation of his illegal actions as we await the legal chanels slow-moving response, which in itself gives us concern.(Where is the 11th Circuit response to Judge Cannon's Jack Smith report on Trump???? one year already!!!)
I saw this earlier and I had to scroll back up b/c I heard FOX Poll and was surprised so I checked and sure enough it is a FOX Poll. 88% means that almost 9 in 10 Americans see corruption as the main problem and want it addressed. If we do not have accountability, we will face this same problem again in the future. No one will get my vote who does not have that as their priority. (NOTE: You cannot get 88% unless you get a lot of republicans in that poll, so D's, R's and I's are all shouting)
With all we have to investigate and prosecute we need to have a strategy. Maybe we can’t touch Trump but there are plenty of people in his administration and Congress and the Supreme Court that can’t claim plausible deniability (is that right?). I imagine there are many former DOJ employees who would love a chance at that task. There is so much though we will need to grab the low hanging fruit and play a long game on some. There is a lot to fix before we get back on track as a Democracy
It is the economy and the corruption, the vileness, etc of the trump administration... And congress and SCOTUS sitting on their hands, not doing their jobs. It is also the greediness of the corporate elite.
Yes, but do not lump the traitors (to the Constitution at least) with the heroes who continue to furiously call out the false and destructive decisions in their dissent. It’s got to be one of the most toxic work environments, ever.
I hope that the people we elect at the midterms will be pounding that reform message into the voters until '28, but they damn sure better have a meat and potatoes plan - figuratively and literally - that looks and smells like real change. The Constitution isn't it's own entity - there are no remedies for elected officials who choose what to follow and what to ignore, or how to keep the scales of justice level. I'm sure you are right, Mike, that there is a lot taking place beyond the view of the public that we don't even know about yet. But if and when it all surfaces, no one will be surprised. If our Constitution is basically like an honor code, we have all seen it in the hands of people who see that as an opportunity, people with no honor. I'm not embarrassed to say that I have always had great respect for Joe Biden, and often said that I had waited my entire adult life for him to be the President. Sadly, by the time he made it to the White House, his lifelong career hadn't prepared him for rabid partisanship whipped into a frenzy by a truly evil man and movement. He operated like an old school politician; unfortunately, the old school had been replaced by a snake pit. All of this to say that after the midterms Democrats have 2 years to design a government that closes the loopholes, cuts off avenues to misuse of power, and restores justice. The voters will know what to look and listen for next time - squeamish Dems in DC need to get out of the way.
Thank you, Mike for keeping this in everyone's view. I'm going to add...the members of BOTH parties in Congress took oaths to uphold our Constitution, to our country, and to their constituents. The members of BOTH parties need to stop the corruption, or they are aiding and abetting it instead. This also holds true for ALL of the members of the Supreme Court. NONE of them swore an oath to bow down to Trump at our expense. This is a country of laws, and it's LONG PAST time for those laws to be enforced by those who swore to do so.
Merrit Garland dragged his feet and here we are. We can not afford to do that again in the next 2 years. It is important that the Democrats start doing things for the people immediately to show they are listening and care and have a plan to get us back on track. But I hope those back room talks going on right now have a firm path forward for making these people accountable for their actions. Make them all pardon-proof! If I don't see that guy in an orange jump suit that matches the color of his face along with all the other Epstein class I will lose my mind.
The oligarchs and Trump know what happens once they don’t have power, they create bunkers in other countries. Money can buy security systems, etc., but desperate people who feel they have nothing left to lose are dangerous and unpredictable.

I concur that this situation is indeed representative of the corruption seen in a banana republic. DJT and his regime needs to go!!!

Darn well stated! COUNT ME IN!

3 of the members of SCOTUS are doing their jobs, the rest seem to be doing it for conservative ideology, power and money.
You are correct. Result is still the same.

It definitely is the corruption. They don't know how mad people are yet. But they will. 😊
The corruption is the biggest (maybe only) reason for our economic problems. Democrats can easily connect the two.
This is absolutely spot on!

THAT...Mike, was absolutely perfectly said
