Kimberly, your comment brings back memories of when my kid sister by some 13 years my junior some 3 decades ago sent me a picture taken shortly after the birth of her first child. The terror and joy I saw in her face brought me to tears, even now when I think back to how close to the edge both distinctly experienced emotions are.
The only difference with today, is that had their been collective voting action in 2018 or 2024 none of todays fears would have materialized. However as of tomorrow progressives need to build for a collaborative united voice vote in 2028 across everyone of the thousands of Single Member District elections and ensure the People (the 99%) decide the vote outcome.
I just want to share my "don't mess with senior citizen voters" story. I live in California, which is a vote-by-mail state. Ballottrax said my ballot was mailed in early October but never arrived and tracking kept saying it was "with the Post Office". I called my county Registrar of voters who said they would send me a second ballot on 10/15. On 11/2 Ballottrax still showed that ballot was "with the Post Office", but not in my mail box! So, I drove the 45 minutes from my home to the county offices and spoke with the Registrar's clerk, was given a ballot, filled it out there and turned it in, then drove back home! The clerk told me that I was "not the only person who was having the same problem". Hmmmmmmm...I wonder what the problem was and who was causing it?!
OMGosh, you could not have summed up our feelings any better regarding this election. Thank you for supporting poll workers! Good idea - will take pizza later to ours!
Even if we get the best imaginable result, it's going to be hard work going forward. We can't get complacent about a big win, because this fascist movement doesn't just end because we win an election.
So I tell myself, no matter what happens, what I do going forward doesn't change.
That includes calling Senators and Reps and demanding accountability and an end to the corruption, and an end to Trump abusing his power. We will have to make sure our representatives know that they need to fight.
Can he keep doing stupid illegal shit and continue bombing after the election . Can newly elected candidates put pressure on congress to get the hell out of the chair it’s not their seat anymore.
