When the language shifts from ‘free press’ to ‘managed press,’ that’s not rhetoric — that’s a real threat to democracy. Attacking journalists, restricting access, and chilling reporting isn’t abstract ‘debate,’ it’s an erosion of the First Amendment.
In addition to all the cleanup that is necessary once we get rid of this Regime, the Democrats need to be innovative--centered on children, not business. Centering on children changes the entire conversation, if you think about it. A plan to get to Medicare for all, maybe state by state, in spite of the Health Insurance industry. Getting insurance through work is untenable. You can't change jobs without the risk of at least losing your doctors or maybe needing time to find another job and not having insurance if you can't afford the very expensive COBRA plan. Doctors need to be on salary so no reason for extra procedures. Teachers need to be paid like lawyers. Childcare, sick leave that you can accumulate, 4 weeks paid vacation and parental/family leave should be unquestioned.

We need to clarify what "free speech" is. Is it "you can say anything you want" or is it you can say anything that is true, or that is clearly an opinion. Lies and manipulation should not be protected speech, and "alternate facts" are nothing but lies. Let's be very clear and direct. It's easy to determine what words are lies. We must put limits on what is protected and what isn't.
i'd like to see a proven died-in-the-wool progressive like AOC or Jasmin Crocket, maybe even Ro Khana. I'd put both Bernie and Liz Warren on this list, but I'm pretty sure that the majority want a younger candidate, especially after the debacle of 2024.
