Some months ago, you were saying that the Epstein files were going to Blow everything up. I remember writing at the time in response to your column that no, epstein was not going to do that. And I’m pretty sure I used the words MORAL ROT.
I’m absolutely sure that we had this rot floating around 50 years ago. But we didn’t have the Internet then. People actually got their news from trustable news sources, and were informed, and cared. Now we have MAGA. So for every source of the information and guidance, there is a source of disinformation and misguidance.
If the Democratic Party does not stand up, if the few decent Republicans don’t stand up and unite to deal with this moral, political, intellectual, and spiritual rot, we’re doomed. And I’m afraid it may take the rest of the world with us.

So they are using their power to have others, starting with Trump (who appears to be guilty of something here too), drag all of this out and hope that people will lose interest. The people aren't losing interest. Mere delay isn't working. So these powerful people are at a loss when their usual M.O. doesn't work.
That's where determination comes in. It's been the determination of people OUTSIDE these powerful circles, that have kept at it, that have led us to this point. The determination of the majority of Americans to not forget about it, to not "move on", to not "get over it" is what will cause the stonewalling to break down. They can't buy off the majority of Americans or give us all a cush job to forget about it. It will take a while but that is why the usual nonsense won't work here.

I personally would rather have our soldiers maintaining order rather than being intimidated by Trump's goons. How many soldiers would be needed to police all the cities in these states?
It is only a matter of time before someone decides to spray paint the ICE car or blow out the tires on their vehicle, and then all hell breaks loose. How long do they think the people of their states will accept being mugged and beaten and have their police force stand by and do nothing? It is cold in Minnesota, but what happens in the summer when the weather is warm, people feel unprotected and abused, their governors do nothing, and they are told to be peaceful? How long do you think that will last?
