Trump can not fire Vance. He can shut him out of meetings, but he can not shut him up.
Per the constitution, he has the job presiding over the Senate, and he is specifically elected, same as Trump was. He holds a separate office from Trump. Trump has no power over Vance. Once Trump has made clear he is 'dismissing' Vance from his 'inner circle', it frees Vance to cast all sorts of shade on Trump.
But it is typical of dictators, to never allow anyone to be the obvous inheritor, for fear others may decide it is time to 'retire' the dictator, because there are always some who will decide the 'inheritor' will serve their needs better. Just watch though, Trump will waffle on his dismissal of Vance, and he will find flaws with Rubio as well.
Trump is a corrupter, and will do everything he can to break, entice, dangle and persuade, twist them until they are as corrupt as he is, but dependent on him as well. That is his way, and it is so much a part of him, so well practiced, Trump need barely any of his remaining cognitive functionality to do it.
It turns my stomach when I think about his ostensible infatuation with Erika Kirk (another phony)...especially with Usha pregnant. (Another rhetorical question: wtf is wrong with HER?)
I am 70 years old and I make a point to listen to this weekly conversation. Please don't lump all of us "old people" together. I am sooo disappointed about how much the gains we actually made are in the dust right now. Yep, the old guard needs to let younger people take the reins. But, recognize some of us worked quietly in the background for a long time and now are bereft.
I'm the same age and also think "young". I suspect there are more like us to whom justice, righteousness, fairness, and empathy for others mean something.
But Obama did involve himself in 2w016 choosing HRC rather than Biden. The difference is that Biden went away without rancor. Since Biden and I are the same age, I have liked him even when I didn’t agree with him and I think his Presidency, like Carter, has been totally underestimated.
I disagree with you about John Cornyn. I wish I didn’t, but I lived and voted in Texas the last 20 years. John Cornyn was so confident of his position that he didn’t even “person” the phones in ANY of his offices. I know. I called him for years and MAYBE once got a person. He was a Texas institution. Ken Paxton, besides being a horrible human being, is a Texas controversy. I UNFORTUNATELY believe Trumps endorsement of Paxton DID make the difference—TERRIFYING!!!
I’ve said it often, democrats would have lost in 2024, regardless of nominee. I predicted in 2023 that Trump would win in 2024 due to the perception that immigration and inflation was the fault of the democrats. I proudly voted for Kamala. Perfect candidate? No but republicans have proven that billionaires are important and not the average American.
Well anyone who can write a check for $290M wields more influence than the average person. But even with Musk's money, it still took an "assassination attempt", real or not, to get Trump to the finish line. The people held their noses, voted for Trump, and hoped for the best. Now it is clear to all that that vote was a mistake of historic proportions.
Vance is a shapeshifter and Grifter
Congrats to the Pink Dragons!
Trump is an idiot.

Trump is too stupid to realize that Vance can enact the 25th amendment
Perhaps, but read the 25th amendment all the way through.
When someone shows you who they are, believe them!
He has no personality
JD jokes used to start with his eyeliner....
And don't forget his love affair with his couch.
It turns my stomach when I think about his ostensible infatuation with Erika Kirk (another phony)...especially with Usha pregnant. (Another rhetorical question: wtf is wrong with HER?)

Northern California and it's a beautiful day!
A worse version of Trump? How is that possible?

What will stop billionaires from collecting all of their money they made off of the American people and leaving for another country?
All I can say is, good riddance!
listening from Cork, Ireland 😁
