And while he's begging them for help, he's also looking for ways to place additional tariffs on them. If I had spent a year telling my neigbors how I was going to burn down their homes, I seriously doubt I would have the audacity or hubris to beg them to put out a fire a sterted in my own home. It's plainly insanity at it peak.
Why would anybody vote for a sociopath like him? People in his social set for the last 80 years have never liked the arrogant, disloyal, self-centered, unethical way he deals with almost everybody, including members of his own family. God help us all to get ourselves out of this shit show without costing the lives of our military service people. They and we deserve better from these so-called leaders.
We would deserve better had we not allowed the traitorous, coup plotting, 34 times convicted felon (and should have been 80+ more but for the cover of the illegitimate SCOTUS) to be re-elected. I know right wing media (FOX & Rush Limbaugh) has been lying to its consumers for 30 years now, but why are they so susceptible to it? I think it’s because it feeds their bigotry. The USA, in spite of the fact that we are not native to this continent, have always cultivated a hatred of others (which includes women). What they call politically correct is really just respectful. What they call deep state was really an incredibly talented and diverse army of career public servants. Their lives have been upended, careers ruined and sometimes lives destroyed. If we ever get them back (talented, capable, non partisan public servants), it will have taken decades. There are obvious things we should have fixed, publicly funded elections where every candidate is on equal financial footing and beholden to no one, Election Day as a national holiday, allowing everyone an opportunity to vote, no lifetime appointments and term limits. But those are a pipe dream now. Just like representation for DC and statehood for PR.
It’s inconceivable to me that the lies are driven by the greed of a relatively few people who can never have enough. Pitting Americans against each other so that they can have more, at the expense of those who have little. And unfortunately, those who have little are so easily weaponized against others who have little, because they want to blame it on someone and they just don’t like people who don’t look like they do. It has cost us all so much, and deprived the world of a stable power for good.
Every war, big and small, has been fought because someone had something someone else wanted. In our own civil war, people wanted to be able to own human beings so that they might live well and avoid the hard work of creating wealth. That’s it. Inconceivable. Being free to choose wasn’t enough for them.
The problem is not Trump and his band of icicles.Trump is an insane person. The problem is the stupid, mean, cowardly people who elected him, who work for him.
100% Mike and then today Trump at the Kennedy Center meeting says "We don't need anybody." This man is delusional and can't keep his thoughts straight, he wants help, he demands help and then doesn't need help???????
No surprise that our allies will not help now. Why would anyone help someone that punched them in the face with Tarrifs and condisending words want too. Unfortunately he's pulling us all down with him.
Very well summarized, Mike. The sooner everyone abandons tRump on the Crazy Train, the better off the whole world will be. If he isn't relegated to a senior's home or mental facility before November, we have to make sure the Congress has enough Democratic clout to put a stop to all of this nonsense, impeach and otherwise sideline all the facilitators. And this time everyone needs to be criminally charged and sentenced for their grifts, malfeasance of office and outright criminal acts.
He can’t even ask for help with a modicum of grace or class. He practically insults them while telling them they should help. This after 15 months of badmouthing most of them. Pathetic.
The orange stain wants others to sacrifice their sailors, their boats and their elected positions to help an erratic, unbalanced and out of control despot. Anybody can see why they are giving him the middle finger.
You missed a big one - the tariffs and lack of consistency and trustability are accelerating the move away from the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency. In a few years we will be unable to continue financing the national debt and the threat of US economic sanctions (a historically useful alternative to military intervention) will be a paper tiger. We will be irrelevant, regardless of whoever is in charge of our government.
The Cheeto in Chief is an ignorant buffoon and our system that allowed him to be elected and then wreck that system must change.
We the people elected him and history will view us as responsible.
As I read through your enumeration of the self-inflicted wounds that lead to the US facing reality alone I wanted to follow up with a highly sarcastic comment.
Sadly, however, anything I might have said sarcastically would have been indistinguishable from trolling by the MAGAts. I guess we owe the death of sarcasm to King Trump, in addition to all of his other crimes.
All of that is right and needs saying. Something I am not hearing much about are the poor federal workers expected to work for no pay now for what - several weeks now? Most of these folks probably live in very tight budgets. How do they afford to keep a roof over their heads? Eat? Pay for gas? Etc. etc. shouldn’t we all be hopping up and down about that? And demanding adults in Congress to behave and act as such?
I hope no one comes to his rescue. Let them live with the fallout. The only help should come AFTER this regime is OUT of office.

Yes, he is definitely insane. Everyone sees it except those that think they too can get rich and famous by following his lead.

Agreed!

There is much to rebuild (sigh). Trump now says he doesn't need help because he's been shunned. Classic defensive behavior of an immature, weak man.

I must weep.
If this isn’t the most perfunctory action of his just lately, the most defining of his dementia, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I can only hope every ship passes except for the ones associated with helping the US if it means the end of this dumb ass administration
Yep. Stupid ass.
