As soon as Donald Trump declared himself a candidate for the presidency and the Republican Party supported him; I no longer wanted to be a Republican. I switched to become a Democrat and then switched again to be an Independent. I will vote against Trump but the Dems are going to have to prove to me that they can and will make changes to support all Americans living in this country. Yes, the young father in Maine, Johan Guerrero, shot in the head in front of his 3-year-old daughter and the dad in Texas, Lorenzo Araujo, who had been here for 3 decades & was driving his employees to a work site. Guerrero had a work permit AND Social Security number and Araujo was working on finalizing his legal residency. Both had NO criminal records.
My daughter lives in Austin. I am horrified that she prefers to live her white-girl life, blissfully unaware. She will vote Dem, but not much more. She didn’t get the “outrage” gene I guess.
My kids will also vote Dem but none of them take after me in the respect that I am a protester and I cannot get them to join up. They don’t mind complaining but don’t take action beyond voting.
At least they are voting the right way. My husband has family members that insist that "both parties are the same" and vote 3rd party here in a battleground state.

I would never claim that we aren’t a racist country. This country was founded on the backs of enslaved people and many of us haven’t moved on from there or from their disappointment that the southern states lost the rebellion. It is to be noted that the Austin, TX Police Chef immediately made a statement saying that the Austin Police were only on site after the event and had nothing to do with it. This is why: 1)Locks in your vote, making it harder for them to cheat. 2)Nothing is "lost" or "tossed" in the mail. 3)No long lines. 4)Every night the campaigns get a list of who voted- not HOW you voted, but that you DID vote. Your name's removed from their Get Out The Vote list & they now don't need to spend money, time, canvassing, texts, calls, or mailers on you & can use these resources on lower propensity/not yet voted people. You help them get out more voters by voting early in person! 5)No ICE, FBI, Nat'l Guard will be at early voting locations- probably just a bored local cop.
