Why Democrats Can’t Blink on Health Care Subsidies

Aired 11.9.25

Hey folks,

I joined NewsNation this week to talk about the ongoing government shutdown and what it really says about our political system. Republicans and Democrats are still locked in a standoff—this time over the extension of federal health care subsidies that keep premiums affordable for millions of Americans.

As I said on air, this proposal from Trump isn’t serious—it’s a Truth Social post, not a plan. Meanwhile, working families are the ones paying the price. The same politicians who found billions for tax cuts for the wealthy are now saying they “can’t find the money” to prevent Americans’ health care costs from doubling or tripling. That’s not fiscal responsibility—that’s misplaced priorities.

At the end of the day, this shutdown shows how broken Washington has become. Americans want leaders who show up to work, fight for them, and keep the government functioning—not those who use their livelihoods as bargaining chips.
