When Democrats lost in 2024, I made a choice: get back to work. That’s why I started Endless Urgency. We’re building an independent media platform that tells the truth, holds the powerful accountable, and helps rebuild a Democratic Party that actually fights for people. Election night was amazing for so many reasons. Watching a new generation of Democratic leaders rise, Texas turning blue, and getting the chance to put one hand back on the wheel for sanity and decency in this country, was extraordinary.
But I’ll be honest. There was something else I was enjoying, too: the total meltdown of MAGA influencers as they lose their grip on reality. They’re being forced to accept that they’re unpopular, and that they’ve spent the last two years destroying this country. A lot of them can’t handle it.
Exhibit A, my old pal Laura Loomer. Conspiracy theorist, right-wing lunatic, deeply unwell human being. On Elon Musk’s Twitter, she announced that America was over, that we’re now an Islamic country, and basically threatened to leave.
That one has stuck with me, because I know what it feels like to lose.
When Democrats lost in 2024, when someone I have a great deal of respect for—Kamala Harris—lost, I didn’t say America was over. I didn’t threaten to leave. I didn’t claim we’d been overrun by Nazis. I went back to work. I tried to figure out what I had done to contribute to this mess and what I could do differently over the next two years. Out of that came Endless Urgency and much of what I’m building right now to help rebuild the Democratic Party and fix this country.
Loomer isn’t doing that. She’s threatening to leave. Which, by the way, I’d support.
That’s the message I sent her on Twitter, and I want to repeat it to all of you, because these people are disgustingly unpatriotic: You’re free to leave.
The American people have spoken. Apparently they’re the last institution in this country willing to stand up to Donald Trump and the Republican Party. MAGA doesn’t like it. Fine. You can leave.
And that goes double for Laura Loomer, Tim Pool, Benny Johnson, and the rest of the MAGA influencer class, who are so very clearly taking money from foreign governments to pollute our politics and spread propaganda. Get the fuck out of our country. Go to whatever Middle Eastern nation has been paying your bills and go live there. Leave us the fuck alone.
And it isn’t just the influencers. The craziness is everywhere.
I was on a right-wing show yesterday and suggested that Republicans lost because they’ve lost touch with reality. They spend too much time in their echo chambers and let crazy people run their campaigns, run for office, instead of qualified human beings who might actually know what the fuck they’re doing.
Here’s the difference between us and MAGA: when we lose, we organize. When they lose, they melt down. Endless Urgency exists because outrage alone isn’t enough. We need to turn that energy into action, build our own media infrastructure, and fight for the future of this country every single day. A woman from Texas started screaming at me. James Talarico, she said, was going to steal my child and turn him trans. I hadn’t even recovered from that when she explained the real reason Greg Abbott lost: he let too many Muslims into Texas.
That’s where the Republican Party is right now. In 2025 there were a million think pieces about whether Democrats would learn the lesson of 2024: that we were too often focused on the wrong things instead of passing legislation and focusing on ways to make a material difference in your life. That’s the lesson Republicans should be learning right now. Instead, they’re doubling down on the same stupid shit. Loomer crashing out about America becoming Islamic and a woman screaming about Muslims in Texas aren’t outliers. They are the party.
These people contribute nothing to society and nothing to public discourse except hate and lies. I hope someday they see the light and become more than the miserable human beings they are. I don’t expect it.
Here’s where the fun of election night ends. As much they’ll threaten to leave, they’re not going anywhere. There’s a presidential election coming, and it will be a huge opportunity to make money and steal influence. JD Vance is already rebuilding the freak coalition for 2028. He won’t fully condemn Nick Fuentes, who is basically a white supremacist, and he’s back-channeling with Tucker Carlson to keep him out of the race.
They’ll all make up and get back on the same page, because they hate Democrats, they hate liberal democracy, and they believe the American government is simply a piggy bank for corrupt billionaires like Donald Trump and Elon Musk, instead of the mechanism to improve your life.
So yes, enjoy this week. You earned it! But these people will remain a corrosive force in American politics until they’re removed from it, or at least marginalized to the point that they have no meaningful influence. Democrats aren’t perfect. But, we have a real chance to show people what good government looks like, and part of that job is taking these people on and exposing exactly what they’re doing.
That doesn’t happen on its own.
When they lose, they whine on the internet. They threaten to leave. They blame Muslims and trans kids and anyone but themselves.
When we lose, we go back to work the next morning. That’s what I did in 2024, and it’s what we’ll keep doing until these people are gone from our politics.
With urgency,
—Mike

I love that Laura L. thinks the idea of her leaving is a threat. It's a tease, sweetheart. Go ahead, do it! Do it! And take as many MAGA loonies as you can with you!
Love how you explained your analysis of 2024 and how you responded and took action. Thank you and thank you for your guidance and energy.
