People seem to forget that speakers are at their core, administrators. Our newly elected Congress is not all progressives, or all moderates, that is not the mandate. Congress represents the interests of different areas and issues. It’s the job of congresspeople to be the firebrands. We are not a cult like MAGA.
Democrats have less than 2 years to prove that they are more than the party of strongly written letters. If they don’t produce or demonstrate that they worked to produce change, 2028 will be handed back to the corrupt Republicans.

You are right. The Democrats will not overreach. But the live issue is whether they will set their priorities right and win the messaging warfare about what they are doing. They were elected to make Americans lives better first and fight corruption second. They can and should do both. But relatively little coverage will be given to efforts to craft laws that will help most people especially if they compromise with Republicans to get bills that will not be filibustered and may be signed by Trump or allowed to pass without his signature. Such laws will do real good but be seen by some and portrayed by more as falling short of promises and goals because they will fall short. Hearings into corruption on the other hand will be attention grabbing from the get so much attention that based on coverage and not on time spent and effort expended, it will appear to be almost everything Democrats are concerned with. Democrats must think wisely and act carefully to ensure that helping Americans and not exposing corruption will appear as their number 1 priority. This is especially true since Fox News and at least some people writing in the mainline press as well as not just Fox News, but CBS and probably CNN will be running with the Democrats are taking revenge interpretation
