What the Pope said is correct. I wish other Christian leaders (like the Mormons) would speak up against Christian nationalism and MAGA hateful rhetoric.

I agree wholeheartedly with the Pope. Everyone thinks that they can pick and choose who has the right to live. You’re either pro life or you’re not.

I would choose the mother. But it should be the choice of the mother herself. I don’t believe that life begins at conception. I believe that life begins at birth. I also think that pregnancies should be carried to full term if the life of the mother is not in jeopardy.

For the government life doesn’t begin until the birth certificate is filed.

What if the choice is between life of the mother or life of her child, which one would you choose????

This is not a pro life question, this is what sometimes happens in real life. People have to choice, it is either one or the other. God puts us to the test that way sometimes because God made a relative world not an absolute world so he has to remind us of that often.

I am not a politician. I am a mom, a survivor, and a citizen who can no longer stay quiet. But I also bring with me credentials that show I have been paying attention my entire life. I am the first woman on my mother’s side of the family to graduate from college. I studied at Brigham Young University in Provo and earned a degree in geography with a focus on the Middle East and Southeast Asia. I converted to the Mormon faith, served as a Young Women’s leader, and sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I have studied politics, geography, and global conflict long enough to know complexity when I see it. And I also know when something is not complex at all. Genocide is not complicated. It is wrong.

I am writing to you with urgency because my family has already been shattered by the very rhetoric that is pouring gasoline across this country. My mother survived an act of domestic terrorism at the hands of my uncle, whose fragile mind was destroyed by hate speech. He set her house on fire with her inside two days before the insurrection. He was repeating phrases he learned through Fox News and Trump. She survived, but our home is gone. We have not been back since. I do not blame him. I blame the leaders whose words lit that fire. Words from the highest offices in this nation - from a president and a secretary of WAR - created the conditions where families like mine were the first to burn.

I am a neurosurgery patient, recovering from multiple brain surgeries, and still raising my children in Portland, Oregon. I left my husband after 14 years because he chose Trump after EVERYTHING I have survived. I should not have to spend my limited strength writing these words. I should not have to beg leaders to stop fueling hate. But apparently I do, because silence is no longer an option.

I have also lost a cousin to suicide two days after Charlie Kirk died. Trump told him that I was the enemy. He knew I wasn’t. But they posted threats of “burning down the libtards.” No one gave me a playbook for how to respond to something as serious as that. I have seen veterans, dementia patients, and those with PTSD collapse under the weight of hate speech that fractures minds and communities. These are not random tragedies. They are connected. I know the smell of smoke. I know the sound of alarms. And I can hear them across this country now. Fireworks belong on the sky. Not on the ground. And with 120 matches (guns) per 100 citizens, I’m intuitive enough to know that it’s a recipe for disaster. And they know it. Yet, I’m grieving for that young Mormon woman who lost her father in on Sunday. I’m proud of her. I weep for her. I weep for that vet and his family, too. 💔🆘🇺🇸

Meanwhile, we are watching billionaires hoard obscene wealth while babies die in Gaza. Elon Musk is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire. For perspective, if you spent one million dollars every single day since the time of Christ until today, you still would not reach a trillion. That is not innovation. That is hoarding. And it is happening while children starve. A MAN-MADE famine in 2025. 🫢🤢🤮 That is not complicated. It is obscene.

I am especially disappointed in Speaker Mike Johnson. I personally called his office last weekend to tell him my family’s story, and yet he still refuses to swear in the elected representative from Arizona - the very district where my family’s home now lies in ashes. That district has a voice, and he is silencing it. He is NOT protecting constituents. He is NOT protecting democracy. If my story cannot move him, then God help us all, because he is NOT doing his job. And there must be accountability for that.

I am not writing this letter because I want recognition. I am writing because families like mine are paying the price of silence. If you do not act, more families will be destroyed. I know the game that they’re playing. Please read my story. Please share it. Please demand accountability. Please stop this office and news networks from fueling hate speech.

I do not want other people to live through what I have. That is why I am speaking now, even when it costs me. Please listen. Please act. Thank you.

Really appreciated this conversation. I was a 1-9th grade catholic school student. Later I became a Sufi initiate. As far as pro life, if someone is pro life the main thing to consider is how many humans can the planet sustain long term? 2.5 to 3 billion. Getting to that level is the only long term pro life stance. And another thing is, like you say, adopt children, feed children, put usaid back in place. I had 7 foster children and two step children besides my own three kids. Take into your house the homeless till they are back on their feet. I did. You should too. Don’t depend on the government or the church. If your body is the temple of God you are the church. Live by hospitality. That is pro life.

I have always been Pro life which means I value all life, even those lives who are misinformed and who

to me are politicizing pro life.. Abortion is not the only issue. All life needs to be respected, including climate change, immigrants, all children, women, elderly and disabled.

Anti abortion is not pro life unless you are also against war, death penalty, mistreatment of immigrants, women and the poor.

I am so glad that we have Leo.

Humanity has survived and thrived through unity, cooperation, and empathy. This is our innate connection where all people are valued, honored, and respected, where care and consideration are shown as we individually do for ourselves. We are One Humanity. Separating and dividing people is an exclusively self-serving agenda which serves only a few, not the whole. We are all part of the 'Whole group of Humanity', yet divisiveness tries to take a sub-set of Humanity ( a specific perspective) and try to make it more important than the Whole... what Trump and Maga are doing.

When I had my first child, I was 17 years old when I got pregnant I went into Planned Parenthood and they wanted to know if I wanted abortion and I asked what is it doing right now, he said the baby was sucking its thumb, and I said no I’m keeping this baby, but if I had been raped I would’ve been in Planned Parenthood saying get that icky nasty dirty thing out of my body and no one should tell me any different.
