I have a house in Bethel NB & love my Canadian friends. I wish I could become a Canadian. Loving, kind, genuine, generous, rational, and the best friends ever. This administration is tearing the world 🌎 😢 apart. It's insane that the congregational & senators Republicans who swore an oath to uphold the constitution & represent their constituents have abandoned both.. They should be held responsible for allowing trump to turn the US into a fascist government.

I'm glad that your government is standing strong against our orange 🐖 pig

Wait. Trump is blaming Pretti for his own murder? Didn't Karoline Leavitt say just yesterday that Trump was waiting for the investigation before making any comments? Or was I hallucinating?

No one can shut him up. Why would ANYONE no matter how base a person work with/for this person?

I still swear that ICE is filled with J6ers, Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Neo-Nazis and other lowlifes. I've heard something of things that ICE have said to protesters like "Raise your voice, I'll erase your voice", "Have you not learned from what's happened?" etc. that's terrifying shit.

I absolutely hate guns in every shape and form. That said, where is the NRA and all of these gun advocate groups in the middle of these comments? I've heard snippets of things that have been said, but all the money and time and effort that's been put into the defense of gun rights and they're going to let these comments just slide?

NRA Blasts Trump On “Law-Abiding” Gun Owners

January 28, 2026 Trump Corruption, Trump Lies

The New York Times reports:

President Trump has contradicted gun rights groups and his deputy chief of staff as he grapples to control the narrative after the killing of a nurse in Minneapolis.

Asked on Tuesday if he agreed with Stephen Miller’s assessment that Alex Pretti, the armed protester shot dead by immigration officers on Saturday, was an “assassin”, Trump told reporters: “No, I don’t think so.”

“With that being said, you know, you can’t have guns. You can’t walk in[to a protest] with guns. You just can’t,” he added. Pressed on the Second Amendment, advocates for which have supported Pretti’s legal right to carry a gun during demonstrations, Trump repeated that “you can’t walk in with guns”.

Sacramento’s ABC affiliate reports:

Gov. Gavin Newsom and the National Rifle Association (NRA) found rare common ground this week after President Donald Trump repeated claims that people “can’t walk with guns,” comments tied to the fatal shooting of a Minnesota nurse by federal officers.

The dispute followed remarks by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, who said people who approach law enforcement while armed risk being legally shot. The NRA criticized the statement, saying public officials should wait for a full investigation and avoid blaming law-abiding gun owners.

Newsom said he agreed with the NRA’s response, calling the shooting of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti and similar incidents examples of eroding constitutional rights. Pretti was legally carrying a firearm at the time of his death, according to officials.

The NRA is the just the latest of several national gun rights groups to blast the Trump administration. Apparently yesterday’s claim by Trump was the last straw.

And as has been widely noted, Trump never said a peep when heavily-armed hordes of Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and other MAGA militias used assault weapons to menace lawmakers at state capitols, city councils, and school boards

He was not carrying a firearm at the time of his death. Another officer had taken his gun, someone yelled gun, and other officers then shot him in the back and neck multiple times. He was on the ground face down. There were at least six other officers on top of him. This is according to an “official”. So many lies.

That’s the New York Times for you. I no longer respect them as a newspaper. It was pretty sloppy language. And that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly, these MAGATS are 'cafeteria constitutionalists', only choosing to observe and apply those sections which are beneficial to them in any given situation.

Really struggling to stay positive here in increasingly ruby red Florida. Just unbelievable the shitstorm that one deranged, idiotic demented moron can perpetrate on the entire world. As the son of a combat wounded World War II vet, it sickens me no end that the orange moron is literally almost single-handedly upending the entire world order, attacking our allies and seriously undermining 80 years of relative global peace and stability. Of course what's going on inside the United States is incredibly disturbing. As long as he remains in power, finding it very hard to see how anything positive is going to materialize for America and the world. If it's even repairable, it could take decades. Tragically sad and infuriating all at the same time.
